U. S.  History

Welcome to U.S. History! This course is a project-based class taught as a block so that the knowledge and skills learned in history and English can reinforce one another. This year, we be focusing not only on learning American history, but also on developing the ability to analyze literature and communicate our opinions effectively. The goal of this course is to present students with the opportunity to study and critically analyze American history. There will be a strong connection with life today. As future voters, students will realize that with knowledge comes choice. Without knowledge, others will make our decisions, form our opinions, and determine our actions. Students will be asked to develop their own interpretation of American history through projects and inquiry-based lessons. For the English component of class not only will we be reading many historical documents, but we will also be learning to analyze these in writing and discussion. The goals will be to develop a deep understanding of the people of the past and to have the ability to communicate our opinions and impressions about those people and their actions effectively.
