This is one of my favorite places that I have ever been. This is from the top of Mount Washington, the tallest mountain in the northeast. The summit reaches 6,288ft and it is home to the world's worst weather! Here, I lucked out and had a clearing of some clouds for a gorgeous photo!
The Mount Washington Cog Railway was the world's first mountain climbing engine! Built right around the American Civil War, it allowed Americans to leave cities around the northeast (New York City, Boston, etc.) via train and ride right to the top of a mountain! The engine pictured is a coal-powered engine. Now, the railway generally utilizes their innovative biodiesel engines to take passengers to the summit. However, once a day, a coal engine takes a ride for those history buffs out there!
Here, there are a couple of the biodiesel engines pictured at the summit with the passenger carts. As you can see, the engines sit downhill from the passenger carts to push them up the mountain on the way up and to hold the cart back on the trip down.
This picture was taken in mid-July and the summit hosted temperatures in the low 40's and wind gusts of 60mph-- brr! Great example of just how crazy the weather is up there.
Part of the Appalachian Mountain Range from the top of Cannon Mountain in New Hampshire.
Enjoying the beauty of the Wisconsin capitol building.
Have you seen the show, American Pickers? It's one of my favorites to watch, so I just had to make a stop at their store in downtown Nashville!
Pictured here is a great view of the Atlantic Ocean from the top of the Plimouth Plantation in Massachusetts. The plantation today is a neat place to visit!
A field trip to Plimouth, Massachusetts was a fun adventure!
I love to travel! Travel leads to learning and I love the adventure! Here, I have shared photos of some of the places I have been.
Principal, Tim Kief, and I celebrated the Packers victory over the Bears!
Lilacs are one of my favorites!
My husky, Emma, takes up quite a bit of my time outside of school! She is a rescue dog from California.
Even though I was raised in Patriot territory, I am a Packers fan!
I always had a great interest in studying the history of Wisconsin during my college education at UW-Oshkosh. This poster was from a segment on Milwaukee history.
They say that every historian has one person they develop a "healthy obsession" over. Alexander Hamilton is my person! He is my inspiration and my absolute favorite person to study in U.S. History.
This is what it looks like when a history teacher throws a get-together. (It really was Hamilton's birthday though!)
During my student teaching, my cooperating teacher taught me the significance of being involved in school culture. Even the silly things like dress-up days can really help you connect to the school and students!
I grew up in a tiny town in northern New Hampshire and decided to move to Wisconsin in 2013 to attend UW-Oshkosh and become a teacher! I have found a home in both states and love spending time in each place. Between school and work, I tried to find time to travel and explore as much as I could! I graduated in May 2017 and am very ready to begin a teaching career in northern Wisconsin!
ABOUT ME!
Some of my favorite things! These photos highlight some of my favorite parts from the adventure of becoming a teacher and living in both Wisconsin and New Hampshire.
